Disqus Comments System

Disqus is a free comments platform that helps you build an active community from your website's audience. Maian Cart supports disqus on product pages to enable visitors to leave comments about products. Disqus enables you to moderate comments and fully manage your comments system via the attractive Disqus administration interface. Enabling Disqus in Maian Cart is very simple.

1 Sign up for a new free account at Disqus.com. You should enter the domain where your store is installed or going to be installed NOT the full path TO the store. So, if your store is at 'http://www.example.com/cart/', you would enter 'example.com'.

2 Access your Maian Cart administration interface and click on:

Enter your Disqus short name into the box provided and also a category ID if applicable.

Disqus is now enabled. You should then also enable disqus for the relevant category and products you wish to have comments as an option. You can totally disable Disqus again by removing the short name from the settings.

To manage your comments log into your Disqus account. Click 'Admin > Settings' to manage your comments settings. It is recommended you enable approval for comments. Other options are available to you as well. There are no admin options for Disqus within Maian Cart. If you need to make any changes to the javascript in Maian Cart, edit the following file:

content/*theme*/html/products/disqus.htm

Disqus can be enabled / disabled in various ways.:

1 In the settings, entering a short name enables the system, removing it disables the system. The short name in the settings must always be in place to enable.

2 Enabling / disabling Disqus on a category page disables comments for ALL products in that category.

3 Enabling / disabling Disqus on a product page disables comments for that product ONLY.

4 On the 'Tools > Batch Enable / Disable' page. Here you can batch update for products / categories.

If you are testing the system on localhost, make sure this is in the allowed domains list at Disqus.

Disqus provide a number of widgets which you can add on any page in your store, this includes any new pages you create in the Maian Cart administration area. These widgets can provide useful stats and other useful information.

To get your widget code, log into your Disqus account and click 'Admin > Tools' from the menu. Note that widgets are optional and aren`t required. If you are happy with the system as it is, don`t change anything.

The Disqus system may be buggy in Internet Explorer 6 & 7 as they don`t support the indexOf method for the Array prototype. Maian Cart does NOT support older browsers.
